As IEBC commenced the voters’ registration process, the Nairobi Gubernatorial seat will be a tight contest between Evans Kidero and Mbuvi Sonko with each having 28% support respectively. Notably, 24% of Nairobians are still undecided and this means that the landscape is open for a third horse. This is according to a poll conducted by TIFA Research Ltd between 31st January and 3 rd February 2016. Support for the female aspirants is low with Anne Waiguru having 7% support whilst Margaret Wanjiru has 4%.

“This survey was conducted at a point when there was speculation that Anne Waiguru and Johnstone Sakaja would run for Governor. After their formal declaration three days ago, Nairobians would definitely be keen to see if their ratings will go up. Therefore, the results of this survey are baseline against which the candidates’ future campaign efforts can be evaluated” says Maggie Ireri, Director at TIFA Research Ltd.
